Oriki (re mi do) or Eulogy is a form of praise poetry in Yoruba culture, often used to celebrate individuals, families, or communities. Oriki typically includes references to the person’s lineage, achievements, and characteristics. Ijesha is a sub-ethnic group of the Yoruba people in Nigeria. Ilesa is the main town and the historical-cultural capital of the Ijesha people.

The term “Ijèshà” is derived from the expression “ijè oosà,”
